Living Dalton Family Members After 1892 Raid

The Wichita Daily Eagle, Oct. 6, 1892, page 1, col. 7

This article appeared the day after the failed bank robbery and says there were five boys and three girls, but there were six sons still living. Emmett likely wasn't mentioned as he was one of the bank robbers and was in custody.

CAREER OF THE DALTONS.

The Daltons were a numerous family. There were five boys and three girls. Of the boys two are engaged in farming – one in Oklahoma, where the mother of the family lives, and one near Coffeyville, where three of the brothers met their death today.

(There were ten boys and five girls born to James Lewis & Adeline Dalton. Only nine sons and three daughters lived to adulthood and only six sons were living at the time of this article. The three living daughters were Eva, Leona and Nannie – leaving no room for a fourth daughter named Bea Elizabeth.)

Once again, no mention of the phantom daughter living in nearby Tussy – Bea Elizabeth Phillips.

The Wichita Daily Eagle, Oct. 6, 1892, page 1, col. 7

Dalton Children as of October 1892:

The article says there were tive sons and three daughters living at this time (Emmett isn't counted as he was in jail or the hospital being treated for his wounds).

Bea Elizabeth Phillips was alive, but there is no place for her on this list. She is not related!
