Ireland is an island European nation in the North Atlantic and is separated on the East from the island of Great Britain by the Irish Ocean. The 1801 Act of Union joined Great Britain and Ireland into the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland". The union had scarcely been established when dissatisfaction in Ireland gave rise to the armed outbreak of July 1803 launching its struggle for civic and religious freedom and for separation from Great Britain.

Simon Wiess may have visited Ireland during his travels for, on May 9th, 1829, he is recorded to have visited the Amity Lodge _______ on the registry of the Right worshipful G.L.of Ireland.
