Fatal Altercation at Hempstead.

Hempstead, Nov. 11, 1876.
An affray took place last evening in Railey's saloon between Will Wheeler, the bar tender, and Dan Short, Esq., during whith Short drew a pistol on Wheeler, who sprang upon the latter and struck him two blows with a stick, fracturing his skull. Short died in a few hours from the blows. Wheeler immediately surrendered. The verdict of the coroner's jury was that deceased came to his death from the effect of two blows on the head inflicted by one Wheeler.
