By the end of the Civil War, his slaves are freed in Florida and his financial position is diminished.

Sometme prior to 1874, Musco Boulware had moved his family to Waller county, Texas, probably to the plantation on Spring Creek.

James Lewis Boulware married Maria Hargrave 1874.  She was a younger sister of Cyllanae Hargrave and sister-in-law to George Lynch.

Musco Boulware IV (enumerated as "Moses" on 1870 census) was shot and killed October 1879 by Frank Hargrave at Field's store in a dispute over a horse race. Frank Hargrave was a brother-in-law to George Lynch and brother of Cyllanae and Maria Hargrave..

There are numerous tax records in Grimes county for the surname Boulware but none are found in Waller county or for Musco Boulware in any county.

Martha Boulware's husband, Joseph D. Wood, was shot and killed at Waller March 31, 1906.

George Lynch's home was reported to be 200-500 yards from that of Musco Boulware.  Newspaper accounts say all other neighbors were over a mile away.  Below are Musco Boulware's neighbors from the 1880 census – hoping to see who the neighbors were that found George in the lane outside his burning home.
