Haplogroup R Time Tree – Whittington DNA Project

The most recent, or "terminal", SNP which has been identified for this line is (R-M173).  As more people test or the technology improves, the terminal SNP can change and become more recent.

These men share a common nth-great grandfather who lived about 19,588 BC and who experienced the SNP named R-M173, and men descended from him carry that SNP mutation.  As more men from the same line test, intermediate SNPs can be identified (private SNPs can become public, named, SNPs) giving more recent common ancestors.

The thin dashed lines surrounding SNPs indicate a range of predicted birth date for the person who experienced that SNP.  Thick dashed lines from one SNP to another indicate that intermediate SNPs are too many to show and are omitted to compress the chart into a more useful size.

If you haven't done the BigY, you are encouraged to do so, but you might still be able to see see how you connect -- if you have a confirmed SNP, you can research the parent SNP of those shown here to see where your line connects.
