Youngblood-Armstrong & Allied Families
The Census records of 1850, lists Peter Hough, age 28, head of house-hold, with wife Mary, and Baker, age 7 and Nancy age 5. These two children were not the children of Mary and Peter, since they were not married until Oct. 14, 1848. They probably were children of Peter by a former marriage.
Peter and Mary Hough, had three children whose records have been obtained.
1. Jane, born 7/15/1863, died 11/7/1864.
2. Claudia, born 5/21/1865, died in 1886, just after graduation from college.
3. John Clanton, born 6/10/1871, married 10/4/1899, Hattie Childs, of Bullock Co. She died 8/10/1902 leaving one child, B. Lafayette.
John C. Hough died age eighty-five, in 1956. Buried in Sardis Graveyard, five miles from Union Springs.
IV. David Youngblood, son of Thomas and Amy, had one known child, Simeon, who was mentioned in his grandfather's will. The name of David's wife is not now known.
V. James Youngblood, son of Thomas and Amy, was named in his father's will, as was James' son, Thomas. The name of James' wife, is believed to be Nancy, who died prior to March 1834. Two daughters are believed to be Elizabeth and Lucretia who were minors and for whom Wilson Kemp was guardian. An examination of the administration of James Youngblood's estate, Box 32 Pkg. 1145, in Edgefield will furnish more information.
VI. Elizabeth Youngblood, daughter of Thomas and Amy, married before 1799, James Adams. Adams was named, with Jacob Youngblood and Thomas Youngblood, Jr. as executors of the will of Thomas Youngblood, Sr.
VII. Rebecca Youngblood, daughter of Thomas and Amy, married Brittain Hargrove, prior to 1799, the year her grandfather, Jesse Hopkins, wrote his will. Edgefield records show that in 1798, one Charles Hargrove died, leaving a son, Brittain. This notation is inserted as a clue.
VIII. Amy Youngblood, daughter of Thomas and Amy, married Frederick Williams. She was married when her grandfather, Jesse Hopkins wrote his will.
While the names of her children are not definitely known, it is certain that some of her children or grandchildren were named in the contest of the will of her brother, William R. Youngblood, in Pike Co. Ala. in 1859. Members of this Williams family settled in Randolph and Chambers Counties, Alabama after those counties were formed in 1832.
