ABE SMITH CASE ON TRIAL.
The case against Abe Smith, a negro, who is charged with being implicated in the killing of Tucker Pinckney near Hempstead several years ago, is on trial in the criminal district court. A jury has been selected and the hearing of the testimony will be resumed this marning. The case was brought to Harris county on a change of venue from Waller county on account of the alleged feeling existing there against the negroes accused of the killing. Pinckney was shot down at a negro church festival.
