PROHIBITION IN WALLER.
Reports Say the County Went Prohibition Yesterday by a Big Majority.
Reports coming in from Waller county yesterday indicated that the local option election held there yesterday would be carried by the prohibs by a big majority. The town of Hempstead, it was thought would give a majority of at least 250 for prohibition, and reports from all over the county indicated that the various other precincts would give about the same proportion against the antis.
District Attorney S. J. Styles, who left Hempstead at about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon and came to this city to attend District court, said that the county would undoubtedly go prohibition by a big majority.
"Hempstead," he said, "will go prohibition by not less than 250 majority." He said that all indications pointed to the fact that the entire county would give a proportionats (sic) majority.
Mr. Styles says that the strongest efforts were being put forth by the pros to carry the election. Able men had been secured to canvass the county in the interest of prohibition and lecturers and preachers had been brought into the county from other places to work for the movement. He said that the women were also very actively engaged in the campaign, and their influence was almost irresistable. (sic)
