Special to the Gazette.;
HEMPSTEAD, Tex., Dec. 1. — The investigation which has been in progress for the past three days in regard to the murder of ex-Sheriff McDade, was a coroner's inquest, held by Justice of the Peace C. D. Robinson. The case was concluded this evening, the coroner deciding that the circumstantial evidence produced on the trial compelled him to hold Joseph Blassengame, Jr, for further investigation, therefore the defendant was remanded to jail. The preliminary examination will begin Monday next, District Attorney Hanny (sic) and County Attorney Lipscomb are prosecuting, and T. S. Reese and A. C. Tompkins defending. The district attorney thinks there never was stronger circumstantial evidence of the guld of the accused than has been shown up to date. The officers are using every means possible to ferret out the perpetrator and bring him to justice.
