Hempstead, April 14. — The jury in the case of Peter Moore, after a retirement of fourteen hours, this morning brought in a verdict of guilty of murder in the second degree, and gave him seven years in the penitentiary.  A motion for a new trial in the case of Thomas Ballard, convicted for two years with intent to kill, was overruled.  The case of the state vs. George Lawrence, charged with the murder of Thomas Ray, Sr., on the night of July 1st, is now on trial.
