Audio of Daniel Cloud's Letter

December 26, 1835, Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Daniel William Cloud wrote this letter to his brother December 26, 1835 from outside Natchitoches, Louisiana. Two and one-half weeks later, January 14, 1836 he was at Nacogdoches, Texas, where he enlisted in the Volunteer Auxiliary Corps of Texas.

He would travel on to San Antonio and there help defend the Alamo from the assault of Santa Ana's troops. He died there, either being killed in battle or being executed by Santa Ana March 6, 1836.
