In March 1839, H. G. W. Cloud married, 2nd, Mary Batemen in Montgomery Co. Ala. Soon thereafter he moved his family to Texas, and in 1861 was residing in Austin Co. where his parents were living.
Jeremiah Cloud, Sr., died 3/14/1861. His only surviving sons, H. G. W. (Wash) Cloud and Francis M. Cloud applied for administration papers on his estate. H. G. W. Cloud stated that his mother was the one by law to administer, but that she was extremely old, - over seventy. Elizabeth, the mother, felt that H. G. W. should not administer, because of his total blindness, and also, distance from her, as "he lived on the opposite side of the Brazos River." (Vol. 2. p 60, Ct. Rec. Austin, Tex.)
Children of H. G. W. and Mary (McDade) Cloud were;
1. Charles, b. abt 1829.
2. Jeremiah, b. 5/16/1831.
3. Alexander, b. abt 1833, died in Austin Co. Tex. The Administration of his estate began Oct. 5, 1866. He was survived by his wtte, Jane, and five small children, names not listed. The 1880 Census, of Austin Co. lists Jane, age 44; Charles age 17, and Louella, age 15. Other relatives of Alexander, mentioned in the administration were, his father, H. G. W. Cloud and brother, Jeremiah.
4. Elizabeth, b. abt. 1835, married a Connolly, and was living in Texas, at the time of her grandmother, Adeline McDade's death in 1874.
This Elizabeth is not to be confused with Elizabeth, daughter of Jeremiah Cloud, Sr. and sister to H. G. W. Cloud, who married 1/1/1840, Isaac Connolly in Austin Co. when San Felipe was the county seat.
5. James, b. abt. 1837.
B. Alexander McDade, b. 5/8/1811, d. 1/15/1854, m. 2/12/1835, Edith Hilton Baker, b. 5/1/1816, d. 1894. Seven children.
1. Alexander Jr. (Keet) b. 3/7/1836, d. Jan. 1865, from wounds received during the Battle of Franklin, Tenn, in the War Between the States.
2. Louisa, b. 1840, d. 1872. Unmarried.
3. Mary Abagail, b. 10/29/1842, d. 1927, married Dr. Robert McCullock Hill, son of Henry Hil1, native of England and nephew of Gen. Packenham, who was defeated by Gen. Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans, in War of 1812. Dr. Hill was educated in Virginia, New York and Europe. He was surgeon in the 2nd Ala. Cav. C. S. A. Two children.
a. Robert, died in 1900, married his cousin, Icie Cobb.
