The members of the Wiess families met Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Wiess' Bluff and cemetery.  It is located North of Vidor, Texas off Hwy 1131 on Coffin road.  Wiess' Bluff overlooks the Neches River and was an important shipping depot in the early years of the Texas Republic and its subsequent statehood.  The lumber industry here supported enough people to warrant a post office for 49 years, closing in 1908.  We toured the nearby cemetery and walked over to the old home place (the house is gone) and the landing at Wiess' Bluff on the river.
