Joseph H. Farr, editor of the Hempstead Courier, was shot and instantly killed Wednesday evening by J. J. Cloud, Justice of the Peace. Cloud was reported short in his accounts and editorial comments in the Courier lead to the casualty. Mr. Farr leaves a wife and three children. The affair has caused great excitement in Hempstead.
