HEMPSTEAD, May 5. — To-day at about 1 o'clock, in the pavilion grounds at the dremen's May day celebration, Joseph H. Farr, editor of the Waller County Courier, was shot and killed by Jim Cloud, his brother-in-law.  There was no immediate cause for the killing, but an old family feud.  There were hundreds of ladies and children present.  Much regret is expressed at the untimely occurrence.  The festivities were entirely suspended, and nearly every one went home.  Farr was well known in this county.
