Killing at Hempstead.. — A. C. Toomey, mail agent on the Western Branch of the H. & T. C. railway, was shot and killed at the breakfast table in a hotel at Hempstead, at 8 o-clock on Friday morning, by Lum Campbell, baggage man running on the same train.  Our informant reports the killing to have been in self defense.  No other particulars learned.  Toomey's relatives live in Austin and his brother and some one else went down on the Friday evening's train for his remains.
