In last week's Hempstead Courier sheriff Tom McDade, of Waller county, published a card reflecting in unmeasured terms upon A. A. McBride of Houston, calling him a liar and other choice names.  McBride has challenged McDade to fight, naming Louisiana, opposite Orange, as the place.

The publication of Dr. McBryde's challange (sic) to sheriff Tom McDade, of Waller county, created quite a breeze at both Houston and Hempstead.  The Telegram says it is a strictly private affair in which the paper takes no part.  Dr. McBryde says he means business.  It is very likely that more will be heard about this affair in a few days..
