Capture of Johnny Greer — Sheriff McDade Challenged by Telegraph to Mortal Combat.

Hempstead, Jan. 9. — John O. Greer, who killed his uncle Ed Greer and deputy sheriff Cooper near Pattison a short time ago, arrived here last night and is in jail. He was captured by a man named Addington in Karnes county. Greer speaks confidently of coming clear. His spirits continue good
Sheriff Tom McDade, of this county, answered editorials and reports published in the Houston Telegram at various times since the Finklea murder, reflecting on him, by a card in the Hanpstead Courier last week. Yesterday he received the following telegram:
Houston, Jan. 7. — To T. S. McDade, Hempstead: Apologize or fight. Louisiana opposite Orange. Will ask Hensley to act second. A. A. McBride.
