— The Houston Telegram says regarding the shooting of Bentford (sic) by Lynch that the sheriff of Harris county was asked to come up and take Lynch in custody as he was in danger of being mobbed by the populace there. A deputy sheriff was sent up. It also says:
We shall now get some more developments in the most atrocious case of persecution, deliberate and wholesale murder and the extermination, root and branch, of an entire family known in the annals of modern crime. The attempts to murder Lynch by violence having failed, no doubt every possible means of securing a judicial murder will now be exhausted.
