Hempstead — News of a Tragedy in Austin County.

Hempstead, June 18, 1877.

R. W. Crawford, of this place, and a man named Bradley, a stockman from Palo Pinto county, had a difficulty yesterday in Austin county about a settlement.  Bradley fired six shots at Crawford with a Winchester rifle, missing at every fire.  Crawford returned the fire with an army repeater, hitting Bradley four times, and killing him instantly.  Crawford immediately went in search of an officer and surrendered himself.  He waived exmination and gave the required bail.
