HEMPSTEAD Nov. 7, 1876.

The election passed off very quietly.  The utmost harmony prevailed, many negroes voting the Democratic ticket.  A full vote was polled by both sides.  Below is the vote in this city: Republican electors, 406; Democratic, 336.  Congress — Osterbaut, (Rep.) 480; Mills, (Dem.) 303.  In the municipal election, J. W. Nooner (Dem.) was elected Mayor; J. W. Farr, (Dem) Marshal.  Of the nine Aldermen elected, eight are Democrats and one Republicn.
