Herman Ivey Sloan
Mr. Herman Ivey Sloan, 67, of Altha died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Mr. Sloan was a lifelong resident of this area. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers and painting. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sloan and Wyanel Gilley; his son, Terryl Wade Sloan; and his sister, Lillian Inez Hughes.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Sloan of Altha; three sons, Author Brown of Wildwood, Earl D. Brown and wife, Janice of Blountstown, and David Brian Keith of Altha; five daughters, Angela Tucker and husband, William of Bristol, Dianna Sloan Maulden and husband, Marc of Altha, Ellen D. Harris and husband, Wade of Fountain, Pauline Pumphrey and husband, Steve of Altha, and Christina Michelle Colley of Altha; three brothers, Calvin E. Sloan of Tallahassee, Ronald Sloan and wife, Mary of Crawfordville, and Freddie Paul Morris and wife, Margaret of Nevada; one sister, Janice Pelley and husband, Hank of South Carolina; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friends, Harry Rodgers, Steve Newman, Jerry Shields, Joe Mark Plumber and John Plumber.
The funeral service for Mr. Sloan will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, at Hall Funeral Home in Altha, with the Revs. Dennis Tauten, Shelton Kindig and Johnny Broom officiating. Burial will follow in Cottondale First Assembly of God Cemetery, with Hall Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, at Hall Funeral Home in Altha. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
