The high point of his career came in 1960 when "Ballyache" a horse bred at his Twin Oaks Farm won the Preakness and was the leading money winner in thoroughbred racing. He also was a well known judge of  fine saddle horses and formerly judged at Madison Square Garden in New York. He lived in Boone County, Kentucky.
