Mrs. J.C. Cullers died at her home in Chicago at 8:50 am Monday 11 Fe b after an
illness of about 8 days. Remains were brought to this city on Wed aft ernoon
where funeral was held at the M.E. church at 3:00PM by Rev. F.A. McCa rty,
assisted by Rev. Mr. Fox of Houstonville church, interment in Gibso n Cem.
She was born in Warren Co VA 19 Mar 1834, her age being 72 yr 10 m o 23 day.
Maiden name was Sarah Margaret Chapman. Baptized in Shenandoah rive r when was
14 at which time joined the Methodist church. In 1851 moved with pare nts to OH
settling in Green Co When 18 married James Ritnour, who lived onl y a few years
after marriage.
Married 4 Mar 1865 James C. Cullers. Mother of seven children: Danie l P.
Ritnour, died 1877; J.D. Ritnour of Stanford IL; Mrs. F.W. Cullers o f Gibson
City IL; Mrs. Ella Moyer; Mrs. R.L. Stimpson, Mrs. Chas Boone all o f Chicago;
and Chas E. Cullers of Marshalltown Iowa. 12 grandchildren and seven
great-grchild
Moved with her husband to IL 1870 settling in McLean co, moving fro m there to
Fisher in 1878. To Gibson City 1881. About 4 years ago moved to Misso uri, where
lived three years, and past year lived in Chicago.
