- Daniel Matson, son of John Matson, Sr. and Margaret (name uncertain), was born about 1712, probably in Upper Merion, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. He married Amy Williams, daughter of John Williams of Blockley County, about 1737. Amy's parents were from UnyLelant, Cornwall, England.
Little is known about Daniel and Amy. It is known, however, that they had at least one child, a son named John Matson who was born about 1743 and who later became a Revolutionary War Patriot. (PA Archives, Ser. 6, Vol. 3, Militia, Aston, Chester Co., p 695. John's regiment.)
Daniels' son John married his first cousin Sarah Mattson (daughter of Morris Mattson) about 1768. They had nine children. (D.A.R. Records). John and Sarah lived in Aston, Chester Co., in 1768-1769 on 60 acres belonging to Sarah's father Morris. Morris' will gave the land to his son Enoch so John and Sarah moved away shortly after. They are listed in Aston, Delaware Co., PA Census of 1790 with 3 males and 2 daughters under 16. There is no further evidence of John Matson after 1810, but his sons and wife Sarah are found on tax and census records in Short Creek, Harrison Co., Ohio between 1811 and 1816.
