    • Obituary:
      CLOUD -- In Cacramento. April 13, 1964. Vivian A. Cloud, late of 6429 Longdale Dr., North Highland, beloved husband of Florence P. Cloud; loving father of Mary, Ann, Patricia and Jane Cloud; dear brother of Esther Cloud, Mrs. Vashti C. Ralph, Charles E. Cloud and Mrs. Mavis Siebenthal. A native of Missouri; aged 45 years.

      Notes:
      Lt. Cloud, during World War II, became a U.S. Army Air Forces ACE, credited with shooting down 5 enemy aircraft in aerial combat. He became an ace on December 22, 1943, and was himself shot down in that engagement, parachuting into the ocean where he was recovered by a Navy destroyer. After the war he transferred to the new U.S. Air Force, and died of a heart attack in 1964. Captain (Air Corps) Vivian Alexander Cloud (ASN: 0-661709), United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a P-38 Fighter Pilot of the 432d Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group, FIFTH Air Force, in action against the enemy in aerial combat in the Pacific Theater of Action during World War II. The skillful and zealous manner in which he has sought out the enemy and destroyed him, his devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
