  Notes	Mary P Jones 100th Birthday Party July 28, 1883 "The Gazette" Newspaper published in South Pittsburg, TN. "The 100th anniversary of Mrs. Mary P. Jones was celebrated at her home a few miles below here in Jackson Co., AL on the 14th instant.  Mrs. Jones and her husband, Robert Jones, moved from VA nearly 70 years ago and purchased land about 4 miles below this place and erected what was then called a fine two-story house where she yet resides with her widowed daughter, Mrs. John W. Alley.  Forty years ago her husband was one of the most wealthy and respected farmers of Jackson County.  The fertility of the fields he cultivated has long since been exhausted and they are now covered with stately pine trees . . . The old lady has 8 children yet living.  Pleasant Jones, the oldest, lives in Texas and is 83 years old.  Bob and Jack Jones are both of Texas.  All of her daughters who are yet alive were present viz: Mrs. Melvina Victory Allen, Mrs. Lou Alley and Mrs. Jane Graham all of whom live in Jackson County.  Her lineal descendants now living are 216.  For nearly a century she has lived a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church to which she has always been greatly devoted . . . . A bountiful repast, such as Jackson County people are noted for, was spread upon long tables.  Rev. S. Beene sat at the head of the table, the old lady by his side and the other members of her family nearby . . . ." Article from Walt Russell, Panama City, FL, a descendant of Louisa Jones Alley 2 of her living children were not mentioned in the article.  Her birthday was celebrated July 14th.  Miles and Armstead were 2 sons still living who were not in attendance.
