- The Thomas Base family was listed in the Jackson County, AL 1830 census. This family lived in the same community as Thomas and Ruhama Busby. The census listed the Thomas Base family with one male under 5, one male 5 - 10, one male 10 - 15, one male 15 - 20, one male 40 - 50, one female under 5, one female 5 - 10, two females 15 - 20 and one female 40 - 50. The ages of Thomas Base and his wife as recorded in the Jackson County, AL 1830 census make them candidates for being the parents of Ruhama Euphonia Busby. The Thomas Busby family was listed on the same census page with one male under 5, one male 20 - 30 and one female 15 - 20.
The Warren County, TN 1850 census listed a Elender Base, age 68, living with the widow Ruhama Busby and her children. No documentation has been found to date (2004) which proves that Elender Base was the mother of Ruhama Busby or that Elender was the wife of Thomas Base. The ages and proximity of the Thomas Base and Thomas Busby families in the Jackson County, AL 1830 census and the fact that Elender Base was living with the widow Ruhama Busby in Warren County, TN in 1850 point in the direction of Ruhama being the daughter of Thomas and Elender Base. Therefore, Ruhama has been given a Base family identity in this genealogy. Anyone copying or using the information in this genealogy should remember that the identity of the parents of Ruhama Euphonia Busby have not been documented.
