  Notes	- The Stokes County, NC 1850 census taker spelled Catherine's name with a "C".  The 1860 census taker spelled her name with a "K".  The family followed the practice of spelling her name with the "K". In the 1880 census, the record shows that Katherine was born in VA, her father was born in VA and her mother was born in NC.  In the 1900 census, the record shows that Katherine and both of her parents were born in NC.  Other documentation is needed to determine the facts. Katherine told the Stokes County, NC 1900 census taker that she had been married thirty years and had given birth to nine children with six still living.  The names of two of the children are unknown.
