- Royeston Joseph Whittington, known as Whit to his friends, was born in Shelby County Baptist Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in Donna, Texas, and spent 49 years living in Corpus Christi and raising his family. He was the son of Ebinor Clyde Whittington and Rebecca Gathings Whittington . His Uncles were Thomas M. Whittington and Enos Jewett Whittington, Sr. He married Vivian Juanita Stromatt on April 26, 1942 at the McAllen Church of Christ in McAllen, Texas. He was a retired employer with J. C. Penneys. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and Eagle Scout and a Paul Harris Fellow. Upon his death, he left the following survivors: wife of 60 years, Vivian Whittington; sons, Gary (Ava) Whittington, Michael (Debbie) Whittington, and Marcus (Esther) Whittington; daughter Janet (Gene) Sharp; grandchildren, Cheree Sharp (Joel) Jackson, John Marc (Erica) Whittington, Aaron (Tarin) Whittington, Selene Sharp Ellsworth, Arwen Whittington (Randy) Blankinship, Eric Whittington, Vanessa Sharp (Troy) Tuttle, Rebecca Whittington, Monet Sharp (Ralph) Castillo and Shane Whittington; 8 great grandchildren.
