Ross Cloud, on Sept. 8, 2004, celebrated his 80th birthday by going home to his heavenly Father.
Ross was born to Stephen Ross Cloud and Millie Rundberg Cloud in Hutto, Texas on Sept. 8, 1924.
Being a life-long member of the Methodist Church, Ross faithfully served his Lord in the Taylor Tenth Street Methodist Church and the Thrall Methodist Church. After farming for many years in the Hoxie-Thrall area, he and his loving wife, Lillian Pearson Appel Cloud, moved to Taylor. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2002.
Survivors include his daughters, Janice Cloud Dishman and husband Richard F. Damron of Silverthorne, Colo., Janet Appel Owen and husband Fred of Austin, Carolyn Appel Shinn and husband Leonard of Manor; a son, Stephen Lee Cloud of Silverthorne.
Grandchildren are Audra Dishman Herod, Dan David Dishman, Sheree Owen Bailey, Cindy Owen Elbrecht, Teresa Shinn Neal, Linnea Shinn Costas, Dianna Shinn Cooper, Alan Leonard Shinn, Jason Cloud and Paula Cloud Hudson. Eighteen great-grandchildren are also proud to have called him "Granddaddy." The newest one, Carson Ross Cloud, was born on the day before his granddaddy's death.
Sincere thanks are extended to all of the loving helpers at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Johns Community Hospital, SPJST Assisted Living in Taylor, Wesley Nursing Home in Georgetown and Hospice Austin. Dr. Cohen and his staff provided extra-special medical care during his illness.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Dan Dishman, Jason Cloud, Roger Bailey, Tim Elbrecht, Don Neal, Tom Costas, Dan Cooper and Alan Shinn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor with pastors Martha Bessac and Dean Hamilton officiating. Family and friends visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home.
