Eileen Hope (Cloud) Root

Eileen Hope (Cloud) Root of Madras died at her home Saturday of cancer. She was 77.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Madras Free Methodist Church. Private family burial will be held at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park.
Mrs. Root was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Wichita, Kan., to Robert Ray Cloud and Ruby (Mardock) Cloud. She graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy in Idaho in 1941.
She married Jack Root on Sept. 25, 1945, in Caldwell, Idaho.
They farmed on the Agency Plains for 40 years.
Mrs. Root was a homemaker, 50-year resident of Madras and member of the Madras Free Methodist Church. She was also once a member of the Madras Garden Club.
She enjoyed her family, church, gardening and traveling, especially to Israel.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Madras; three daughters, Dolores Clark of Bend, Peggy Boyle of Madras and Nancy Couch of Ashwood; three brothers, Melvin Cloud of Madras, Everett Cloud of Culver and Erwin Cloud of Salem; two sisters, Velma Fisher of Nampa, Idaho and Mary Warren of Greenleaf, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madras Free Methodist Church, Mountain View Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
