HAMILTON WARREN "STORMY" CLOUD
Hamilton Warren "Stormy" Cloud passed away Friday, October 13th at Trios Hospital in Kennewick. He was born Dec. 29th, 1919 in Loachapoka, Lee County, Alabama in his maternal grandparents' home. He was the son of Ida "Louise" Warren and Archibald " Archie" Hamilton Cloud. When he was in elementary school his family moved to Notasulga, Macon County, Alabama, about nine miles down the road. They first lived on a small patch of land where he was proud to say George Washington Carver came out and with soil samples helped get the land more productive. In 1935 his mother passed leaving his father and him on their own. Due to a broken heart, his father lost interest in the land and the store they were running together. Governor Bibb Graves, a family friend, signed a proclamation making Stormy legally able to do any business except vote when he was 17, so he could do all business dealings as a man of legal age. In 1940 he lost his father also. He was alone. He ran several of the family businesses before getting "sand in his feet" and heading north to find work. He worked as a steeplejack for a couple of years bringing him to Meyersdale, Pennsylvania where he met June M Klink. They dated for about two weeks before he left west for the CCCs. Then he worked for DuPont for a while. In 1945 he sent June the money to take the train to Pasco to get married. When she arrived, there was no minister available, so they went to Prosser and were wed in the Methodist Parsonage 23 Feb 1945. He worked in many jobs the last being Coca-Cola for 28 years. He lost June on Sept 7th, 2012 and missed her dearly.
Besides his wife June and his parents, he was preceded in death by three cousins who were like siblings to him: Warren, Eleanor, and Jesse; his daughter-in-law, Kitty Cloud, his great granddaughter, Sierra Schmidt and great grandson, Zachary Schmidt.
Surviving him are his children: Archie (Debbie) Cloud, Dixie (Terry) Bass, Laura (Joe) Schmidt and John Cloud. Grandchildren: Steve and John Cloud, Ricky and Ronda Bass, Joe, Mike and James Schmidt, John, Courtney, Jennifer and Jessica Cloud. Step grandchildren: Thomas (Michelle) Rowley and Teresa (Eric) Orpet and 25 great grandchildren with a great grandson on the way, 6 step great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and 1-great-great grandson. Though in this family there are no "steps". to quote Kitty.
The family wishes to thank Hawthorne Court in Kennewick and their caring staff for the care and attention given to our father during his residence there. You have been a blessing to us. Services will be on October 18th at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W Court St, Pasco at 10:00 am with internment at City View Cemetery in Pasco. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Stormy Cloud to The Tri-Cities Animal Shelter, 1312 S 18th Avenue, Pasco, WA 99301.
