Obituary:
PIONEER CITIZEN DEAD
Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Cloud died at her home in Altona, Mo., December 13th 1924; aged 85 years 5 months and 16 days. Catherine, daughter of John and Catherine Brown, was born in Pike county, Mo., June 27, 1839. The Brown family moved to Bates county in an early day and the remaining years of her life were spent here, where she was active in helping in the development of the country. November 4, 1858, she was united in marriage with John Owen. To this union were born two children. John Edwin and Catherine Jane Cantrell, both of whom preceded her in death. John Owen died August 24, 1862. She was united in marriage with D.W. Cloud December 22,1881. To this union one son, Leo, was born. He died in infancy. Mrs. Cloud united with the Altona Baptist Church more than thirty-five years ago and was a faithful member of same, always taking a deep interest in the work of the Church.
Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren survive her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cloud were held Monday after from the Altona Baptist church,conducted by the Rev T.C. Brammer, pastor of the Butler Baptist Church. Burial was made in the Altona cemetery.
