Last Rites John Cloud Held Here
Former Resident Died at Home of Daughter In Rochester, Ind.
John W. Cloud, former Van Buren resident, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.L. Camblin, in Rochester, at noon Sunday following a short illness. Mr. Cloud, for a number of years, had a heart ailment, and this was the immediate cause of his death.
John Cloud was well and favorably known throughout this section. As a clerk in local stores some years ago he made many acquaintances. And his fairness and honesty, coupled with courtesy and efficiency, made him many friends
John W. Cloud was the son of James and Elizabeth Cloud. He was born in Wells Co. Ind. Dec. 9, 1857. At an early age he moved with his family to a farm near Van Buren. He moved to Van Buren in 1910, where he resided until August 1934, when he and Mrs. Cloud went to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Milton Camblin.
He was united in marriage with Mary L. Duckwall Aug. 27, 1885. To this union 4 children were born; 2 sons, Elbridge who died March 12, 1917, and Clarence who died in infancy, preceded him in death. Survivors are the widow, Mary L. Cloud, Rochester; Leroy Cloud, of Little Rock, Ark; Mrs. Camblin, of Rochester; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cloud united with the Central Church of Christ in Van Buren on March 6, 1921, and remained faithful to its vows until death took him to the church riumphant on August 15, 1937, at age of 79 years, 8 months and 6 days. Short funeral services were held at the Central Church of Christ at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, in charge of the pastor Rev. Harper McCune.
Internment was in the van Buren cemetery.
