    Notes
    • It is believed they lived about five miles SSE of Burkeville, now near Stringtown on FM 1414.  Jasper county tax records show that he paid taxes as early as 1838 (present day Newton and Jasper counties were all part of Jasper county during the Republic of Texas) and prior to 1848, Wilhelmina is recorded buying hundreds of acres of land in Newton county in both of their names.
The following excerpts from the Commissioners Court Minutes from August 1846 to February 1851 attest to the life and service of the Seybolds in that county.
"Road Precinct No. 3.  Road from Fields Mills to county line near Jm. Carmans to be reviewed and attured.  William Chaddick overseer. List of hands .... Conrod Seybold, Dr. Seybold negroes ....
"Precinct No. 5.  The Road from Fields Mills the nearest and best way to the Jasper County line, near John Carmans, Silas Chapman ... overseer, with the following hands ... Conrad Seybold, Dr. Seybold's negroes ...
Doctor Seybold died in 1864.  His wife, Wilhelmina, died 4 years later, 1868, and his only surviving child, Conrad, died 4 years after that in 1872 at the age of 42.
