His brother, Thomas Franklin Herring, prepared a chart of family births, listing those of all his 12 siblings as well as those of his nieces and nephews. He shows no chldren for his brother, James Herring. (The chart is in the possession of his great-grand niece, Mary Patricia Herring Drummond.)
