- In 1880 they were living in Pleasant Township, Wright County, Iowa. They later moved to Beaumont.
Capt. Tyrrell purchased the old First Baptist Church building (on the corner of Pearl and Forsythe Streets) in 1923 and donated it to the citizens of Beaumont to be a library in memory of his late wife, Frances Helen Rorick Tyrrell. He paid $70,000 for the property which was Beaumont's first public library. It is today known as the Tyrrell Historical Library.
In the 1920's, he worked with Allen Minor McFaddin, son of James A. and Margaret (Coward) McFaddin, at the Heywood Oil Company at the Spindletop oilfield in Jefferson county.
