ALFRED "AL" WARREN
Alfred "Al" Warren, 87, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at Via Chrisi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.
He was born Nov. 3, 1913, to Dee and Mary Elizabeth (Crosby) Warren in Canton, Oklahoma. He married Carolyn T. Vaughn, Sept. 21, 1951, in Clayton, N.M. She survives. He grew up and attended school in Canton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He and his wife moved to Liberal, Kansas in 1948, and to Garden City in 1968, where he lived until the time of his death. He was employed as a pipe fitter for Natural Gas Companies in Oklahoma and Kansas. He later owned and operated Warren Motors in Garden City. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Garden City. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching baseball and working on cars. Other survivors include three sons, Alfred Lee Warren, Liberal, Timothy Wade Warren, Garden City and Bill Warren, Hastings, Nebraska; five daughters, Mary Catherine Landureth, Laverne, Oklahoma, Aleta Mae Whitefield, Liberal, Ks, Ruth Ann Wallace, Port S. Lucie, Fla., Alicia C. Vanatta, Montgomery, Texas and Patty C. Warren, Garden City, Kansas; one brother, Howard Warren, Liberal; one sister, Hazel Coberly, Oklahoma City, Ok, 20 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Dean Warren; a daughter, Tammie Jo Warren; three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Pastor Gary Don Newman presiding. Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Alfred Warren Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N.
