    • His name shows up, variously, as Dowen, Dowan, Down, Dower, Dowing. His death certificate (Milam County) lists:  Down Alexander; b. 8-23-1860 TX; d. 12-5-1914; father William Cloud; buried 12-6-1914; farmer.  Jodia Ferguson, his niece, in transcribing information from her mother's Bible (his older sister, Becky), wrote his name as either Dowan or Dowen (looks more like an "a".)
