EDITH MARIE BRIDGES SCHIRO, born in Palestine, Texas on January 2, 1915, died January 25, 1993. Mrs. Schiro was a graduate of Palestine High School, and graduated from the Houston Conservatory of Music. She married Leon Anthony Schiro, Sr. on August 3, 1934, who preceded her in death on March 17, 1984. Mrs. Schiro was active in the Community Players Theater Group under Margo Jones, and for many years was active in Camp Fire Girls and Boy Scouts of West University Place, where she served as Leader for the Cub Scouts. She was a member of Bering Memorial United Methodist Church since 1942, and served in the Children's Division at Bering Memorial for twenty two years as teacher and one year as Superintendent of the Children's Division. She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Marie Ayers Stubbs and husband J.E. of Houston; son, Leon Anthony Schiro, Jr. and wife, Carol of Houston; Sister, Mrs Bonnie Kate Hartzog of Houston; brother, Mr. Jack Bridges of Palestine, TX; grandchildren, Leon Anthony Schiro, III, Kevin Karl Ayers, Paul David Schiro and wife, Kelley and Deborah Marie Ayers McLean all of Houston; great-grandchildren, Natalie Dawn Schiro and Vincent Andrew McLean, Jr. both of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visitation with the family in the Settegast Kopf Drawing Room on Wednesday, January 27, 1993 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, 1440 Harold St., on Thursday, January 28, 1993 at 10:30 A.M. with Dr. Donald Sinclair and Rev. Ronald D. Pogue officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Harold E. Bridges, George Arnold, Ralph Arnold, Henry Schiro, Bennie Lee Schiro, Johnny Chartrand and Joseph Schiro. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.
