- Ewin was the only child not given a middle name. When he joined the Army they asked him his full name. He told then Ewin Fergeson and they asked for his middle name. His answer was, "I don't have one." They said he had to have a middle name so they could write it down and told him to give himself a name. He told them to write Edwin.
