        "MRS. RHODA KNOWLES, DUFUR PIONEER, DIES"
        "HOME MADE IN WASCO COUNTY IN 1883; WAS WIDOW OF CIVIL WAR VETERAN."

          "Mrs. Rhoda Seebold (sic) Knowles, aged 84 years, a pioneer resident of Dufur, died at her home there at 5: 30 o'clock this morning. funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Methodist church at Dufur, Rev. K.K. Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Dufur cemetery.  The Crandall Undertaking company is in charge of arrangements."
          "Mrs. Knowles was the widow of Phillip T. Knowles, a Civil war veteran with whom she moved to Wasco county in 1883, settling Wamic. Mrs. Knowles was born March 22 1841 in Illinois.  Her father's name was Dotson and her mother's maiden name Hardisty, both of whom were natives of Kentucky.  Mr. Knowles died at Dufur December 24, 1924."
          "Mrs. Knowles is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Curtis Woodford of Hood River.  The other member of the immediate family, a son, Phillip Knowles, Jr., former mayor of Dufur, died on January 5, 1926 at the age of 61 years."
