Notes - Blandinsville Star Gazette, pg. 1, Thursday, March 7, 1907 notes that Geo. L. Seybold was born near Blandinsville January 9, 1839 and died at home 1-1/2 miles North of Blandinsville February 24, 1907, son of David and Delila Seybold. One of ten children: John R., Mary, George L., Nancy V., Jasper N., Zilpha, Ellen, Laura, Henry and Lozia dying in infancy. That he had one son, Emmet, "still living with his mother".

The first road through Sciota township was built about 1858. The town of Sciota was organized as Clarksville in 1867 by William B. Clark. It was later renamed Amicus and then Sciota after the township in which it was located. "Among the early merchants were Obermeyer & Brothers, J.R. Seybold, R.L. Shouse and Silas Webb." (p. 122).
