    • He was a lawyer by profession.  He served in the War of 1812, serving as Wagon Master, McIntosh's Division, Georgia Militia, from November 29, 1814 until March 18, 1815.  He represented his home county of Montgomery in the state legislature and, his most memorable service was as a member of the first Constitutional Convention which met at Huntsville in 1819 to frame the constitution for the new state of Alabama.  His signature is on that constitution.
