Obituary: LaHarpe Quill; May 7, 1942; ROSA REISELT DIED YESTERDAY AT AGE OF 83 Funeral to Be Held From Christian Church Sunday--
Funeral Services will be conducted in the Christian church at 2: 00 p.m. next Sunday for Mrs. Rosa Reiselt, 83, life-long resident of this community, who succumbed to a critical illness of only a few days at her home on the east side of the city at 6: 30 a.m. yesterday.
At her death on May 6, 1942, she had reached the advanced age of 83 years, 11 months, and 14 days.
Rev. James Q. Moore will officiate at the service on Sunday, delayed until that time to allow opportunity to notify close relatives in scattered far-off cities, and interment will be made in La Harpe cemetery.
Took Ill on Saturday
Reported quite ill some time ago, Mrs. Reiselt seemed to recover and was again able to be about the duties of her home and garden. Still active, she was stricken on Saturday with the illness which claimed her life early Wednesday.
One of eleven children of James and Lucinda (Fairbanks) Ketcham, Rosa (Ketcham) Reiselt was born in Pilot Grove township on May 20, 1858. She was reared in the surroundings of that comfortable little family homestead, which is remembered so well by old-time residents as a congenial and hospitable gathering place for the children of that era.
It was on January 15, 1878 that she and Henry Reiselt were united in marriage. They enjoyed many happy years together, reared a large family and assumed a prominent role in the civic and community life of this, their home. This pleasant relationship of husband and wife terminated, except in the vivid memory of the good wife, when the husband died on January 24, 1932.
Left to mourn the mother's passing are seven children; Melvyn, Ivo, Mrs. Myrtle Hurdle and Mrs. Mabel Green of this city, Sherman and Harry of Dallas City and Mrs Hazel Squires in Davenport, Iowa.
Two brothers, William and Charles Ketcham of this city and two sisters, Mrs Estelle Thompson of LaHarpe and Mrs. Clay Northup of Blackwell, Oklahoma, also survive. Mrs. Reiselt leaves 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who also will miss her unfailing fond attention.
Letter from James Ernest Thompson and his wife, Ruth Anderson both of LaHarpe, IL, dated 5 Jan 1970 and addressed to Mildred, Ermal & Mark Ketcham
