    Notes 
    • He settled in Maury county Tennessee prior to 1820 and was a justice of the peace there in 1825.  He is listed on the census as "Swan Hardon".  On December 20, 1824, Swan and Mary Hardin qualified as executor and executrix of the last will and testament of Martin Hardin in Hardin county Tennessee.
          On October 1, 1825, he was involved in a shootout between his sons and Isaac Newton Porter and William Williamson in Columbia, Tennessee.  He was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to be branded  "BL" (or "MS" ??) on the thumb, serve ninety days in jail and pay court costs. He appealed the sentence and fled to Texas while the appeal was pending.
