Name |
Frank Benjamin Eastburn |
Born |
Jan 14, 1898 |
Albany, Linn county, Oregon, USA |
- Frank lied about his age to enter the service. His military and social security records, even his gravestone show he was born in 1900. The 1905 census, taken when he was five years old, would indicate he really was born in 1900, however.

Notes |
- The historic Brownsville Museum has a petition promoting prohibition signed by Frank when he was in grade school, and a photo, too. He did not adhere to these early beliefs as an adult.
Frank worked for Cummins Transfer. He would take a caterpillar tractor up to clear the snow from the road to Clear Lake for the Fish and Game Commission in the spring. On one visit when he was delivering fire wood to a remote cabin, he saw a dog he liked. The owner said it was unmanageable and he could keep it. The dog, a cross between a coyote and a fox terrier, was extremely protective and a great watch dog. He earned his keep one night when he kept a cougar at bay while the family was encamped. The cougar's prints were found the next morning just out of range of the dog's tether.
