- Nesta, or Nest, dtr. of Rhys ap Tewdwer, whose pedigree from Rhodri Mawr is found in John Edward Lloyd's "A History of Wales from the Earliest Times to the Edwardian Conquest. 1954" Vol. 2, page 767, was considered one of the most beautiful women of her time. Her first husband was Gerald of Windsor, son of Walter fist Other, who she married about 1100. He was catellan of Pembroke, and he died about 1135-36. She had four children by him: William; Maurice; David; and Angharad. Her child by King Henry 1st, Henry fitz Roi, was raised with her other children. Her 2nd husband was Stephen of Cardigan, by whom she had Robert fitz Stephen. She had at least four other illegitimate children: William fitz Hai (Hait), sheriff of Pembroke about 1130; Hoel; Walter; and Gwladys.
