Tuchman states that Alfonso XI of Castile, who also died, was the only monarch to die in the epidemic. But Queen Jeanne was also on the throne of Navarre at the time. She was survived by her son Charles d Albret of Navarre, who succeeded her.

She did finally inherit the kingdom of Navarre, and married the count of Evereux after the death of her uncle, Charles the Fair of France who died in 1328.
